Canadian Museum of Civilization
The history of the Canadian Museum of Civilization began in 1856 with the establishment of a museum by the Geological Survey of Canada.
Douglas Cardinal, from Red Deer, Alberta, was the design architect. He collaborated with Michel Languedoc from the Montreal architectural firm of Tétreault, Parent, Languedoc et Associés Inc. Mr. Cardinal, who has Métis ancestry (his grandmother was a Blackfoot native), is a graduate from the University of Texas School of Architecture.
